Proud Wife

I am a proud wife. Scott passed his CDL driving test with flying colors on Saturday. He called his new boss in ND that night and he is all set to head up there on Feb. 12th. He is making a big sacrifice for us and I am proud of him and how hard he always works for us. It will be tough to be away from him but we did find out that he can work 2 weeks on and 1 week off instead of 3 weeks on if he'd like to. We'll see how it goes. Love you babe!

First Cavity

So, a few weeks ago, Canyon started complaining about one of his teeth while he was eating. After dinner I took a look at it and saw that there was a pretty good size cavity in one of his back teeth. I cleaned it and flossed it for him really good that night to get all the food out of it and then called the dentist the next morning. Canyon always brushes his own teeth. We do it together though so he can watch me and do what I do while he's brushing. Apparently he's not doing that great of a job.

Yesterday we had out dentist appointment to get his tooth fixed and he did really well. He was pretty nervous and didn't want to go because I was a genius and told him that they were going to give him a shot to numb his mouth... Don't know what I was thinking. Anyway, he did awesome! They gave him some headphones and he listened to emperor's new groove and tarzan the whole time. The covered his eyes when they gave him the shot and then when it was all over I asked him if it hurt and he didn't even know they had given him the shot yet.

So after it was all said and done, we've decided that mommy will be brushing his teeth for him for a little while. :)

I love saving money

I love spending money. I am the first to admit that I have a spending problem for sure. But, I love saving while I'm spending too! I've been doing the whole couponing thing for the last year and it has really helped to build our food storage and save a lot of money.

Target is one of my favorite stores to shop at for everything! And what's great about target is that they have their own store coupons that you can print online and combine with manufacturer coupons. I love it! This week I saved a ton of money their. I bought shoes for Canyon which I saved $5 on and a balance ball and scale which I also save $5 on. A few months ago target had $5 off a pair of jeans coupon on their website and I was able to find some really cute jeans on clearance for $7 and after it was all said an done I got them for $2! I printed another coupon off the next day and went back and got another pair. It was awesome! :)

Today I went to Smith's, another one of my favorite places to coupon at, and got all of this for $11. :) Love shopping!

On a side note... Scott scheduled his driving test yesterday and so he will be taking his test on Saturday morning... Keep us in your prayers please!

Journaling... is that a word?

When I was younger, I used to love writing in my journal. And now its fun every so often to look back and read what I wrote about when I was in Elementary school and Junior High. One of my goals this year is to be better at writing things down and making a record. I probably won't dive right into writing in my journal every night like I used to when I was young but updating my blog more than once every couple months would be a good start. :)

So, I've been trying really hard to get up at 4:45 every morning and get to the gym before Scott leaves for work and some weeks I do awesome and some weeks, like this last one, I suck. I am not a morning person and it's so painfully hard to drag myself out of bed so early in the morning. I did make it twice last week but it was at 9:00 and I had to pay $4 each day so my kids could be at the day care at the gym. This week I've turned over a new leaf and so far, I'm 2 for 2 at getting up and going to the gym at 5. :) Hopefully I can get through the whole week and it will become habit.

I love my husband. He is one of the hardest workers I know and he has sacrificed a lot for our family. Right now Scott's job feels like it's going downhill sort of fast. He had one really busy day last Monday and then he was home by 3:00 every other day last week. Not good. The last month or so we've been playing with the idea of him going to take a job in North Dakota that he can have once he has his CDL. It pays really well and we feel like it will be a good solution to our financial problems as well as a good step towards getting him back in school to finish his degree in wildlife and fisheries. Our plan right now is for him to go out and work for 1 year or so and then we will have enough money saved up that he can come back and go to school full time. He will be working in North Dakota for 3 weeks a month and then will fly home for a week to be with us. He studied hard and was able to take and pass his written CDL test a couple weeks ago. The final step is practicing driving and taking the road test. With work being so slow last week he was able to take Tuesday off (called in sick) so that he could go practice driving a semi with a guy in our ward. I think it was much harder than he had hoped it would be and now he's even more nervous to go take his CDL road test. He was able to go out practicing again last Saturday and yesterday and he's trying to get out once more this week and then take his final test on Saturday. I'm trying to push him as non-pushingly as possible but he's really got to get his license soon because the company in North Dakota is going to be ready for 3 new guys the first week in Feb. That means we really needs to have it complete this week to secure his spot. He's been studying and working really hard so I have confidence in him that he will be able to do well.

Canyon is doing well and he is getting slightly less dramatic than he used to be. He really likes preschool most days and he has a lot of friends there. He's very social and personable and is always calling his classmate's by name whenever I'm there with him. It makes me laugh because I've never seen a little guy have such good communication skills. There are a couple mom's that have told me that it's because of Canyon that their kids like preschool because he is such a great friend and tries to include everyone. He's learning how to write and he likes to make cards for dad and write stories. He asks me how to spell each word and he writes the longest sentences ever (once upon a time there was a super hero that helped everyone when they were sick do the funnest things ever that they wanted to do in the whole world). That was the last sentence. He also is learning to sight read a few words and really likes to practice reading. He still wants to be a paleantologist and insists on getting dinosaur encyclopedias every time we go to the library. He did tell me this week however that after he goes to school the be a paleantologist he would like to go to school to be a cowboy.

Savanna is busy as ever, but, the last couple weeks she's actually figured out how to put together these giant floor puzzles all by herself. I was shocked and amazed the first time because she has never had the attention to sit still and work on something for any amount of time. She likes to try and read like brother and starts every page in her books with "once upon a time". She loves singing and she sings while she's doing her puzzles and usually they are made up songs which makes it even funnier. She got a vacuum for Christmas and it's red just like mine and so she follows me around the house whenever I am vacuuming and she likes to ram my vacuum with hers. Her 2 favorite phrases are "I can not believe it" which she says if you tell her something exciting and "that's so silly" which she says after almost everything but especially when she hears a word that she thinks is funny sounding. I took her to get her first hair cut ever last week and they cut 4 inches off but I think it looks really cute.

The kids are finally 2 ages where they are more on the same level and have been playing together really good lately. Canyon is a great helper with Savanna and always wants to make sure she is ok and helps her with whatever she needs.

It's crazy that my babies will soon be 5 and 3... time just flies way too fast! We took them Ice Skating last Saturday and it was really fun. They already want to go back and have been asking us when we can go again. :)

Wow 2011 seemed to really fly by didn't it? We had a very busy and eventful year and so far it looks like 2012 isn't going to be slowing down much.

Scott and I also celebrated our 6 year anniversary on the 16th of December and my parents were nice enough to take the kids for the night. We went Christmas shopping... :) Happens every year.

It was also my sister Nikki's birthday and my Mom's in December so lots of partying.

Well what a busy couple of weeks we've had! My little sister Nicole got married on October 28th in the Mt. Timpanogos Temple and it was a perfect day. She looked beautiful and happy and everyting went really well. I headed up operations over the baking of 600 cupcakes which was A LOT bigger project than I thought it would be but it's over now and I'm glad. :) Nikki and Alex got home from their honeymoon in Mexico yesterday and we went over and watched them open their gifts last night. I didn't get any pictures of the happy couple on the big day but I of course did get pictures of my own cute kids. :)

Monday was Halloween and the kids spent the day in their costumes of course, Canyon as the Black Spiderman and Savanna as Tinkerbell. We went trick or treating down main street to all the businesses in American Fork and then we came home and went to a few houses in our neighborhood. Scott didn't make it home from work until about 7:30 so we went to his parent and my parents with out him and then he met us at Grandma Joan's later where we ended the night. They had an awesome day and got tons of candy.

The deer hunt just ended and Scott got this 2 point on the last day of the hunt. He was happy about it and Canyon enjoyed watching the boys hang the deer in Grandpa's shop and then helped him skin it a couple days later. It's now at the butcher being turned into steaks, roasts and jerkey... Not really sure if I'm excited about having all of this meat or not. I have never tried deer meat and I don't really want to. I'll have to find some good flavorful recipes I guess. :(

And last but certainly not least... My wonderful husband turned 27 on Nov. 3rd. We went to cafe rio for dinner where Jason, Sasha and Hunter met us as a surprise and then came back to the house for some Heath Bar Cake. It was a great night!

We love Scott so so so so much and are so happy to have him as a husband and a dad. He's such a great father and husband and works so hard for our family. We love you babe!

I guess it's a family tradition now since this is our 3rd year going. :) We went to Cornbelly's on Saturday and the kids had a blast. It was surprisingly warm though and really busy probably because of the weather. We were there for 2 hours and didn't even make it through the whole place. Next year we'll try and go on a less busy day. :)

Temple Pictures

Yesterday before church we took the kids to the temple. It was so nice being there with my kids and husband and it made me realize how lucky we are that we can just drive 5 minutes from our house and be at the temple and drive another hour and be at any of 6 others we choose to go to. I love the temple and am so grateful for the blessings we receive from going there. I'm grateful that Scott and I were married in the temple and that our kids are sealed to us forever. I love my forever family!

Wow, pinterest rocks. Has everyone been having as much fun on pinterest over the last couple of months as I have? It was awesome this month while I was planning a bridal shower for my sister. I got most of my ideas and inspiration on there. Here are a few of my favorite pinterest finds that I've actually tried. :)

I learned how to make these super cute pom balls from this website http://www.thebusybudgetingmama.com/2010/08/diy-tissue-pom-poms.html and they were super easy to make and really cute at my sisters bridal shower.

A couple weeks ago I was feeling ambitious and decided to attempt baking something I've never baked before. Rolls. It was my first time baking rolls and they turned out awesome! I found this super cute idea for a Bat Tree for Halloween decorating. Here is my version of what I found. I gathered some dead sticks across the street from my house and spray painted them black. I then put them in a vase and put ribbon around it. I found some plastic bats at target and hung them from the sticks with fishing line. I love how it turned out!

I go through clorox wipes like they're going out of style. On Pinterest I found this idea to convert my emply clorox wipes bottle into a grocery bag holder. I just tore the label off, washed it in the dishwasher and put scrap book paper on it. Ta-da!

I found this cute idea on Pinterest to do leaf pictures with the kids. They had so much fun!

One of my favorites... I saw this on Pinterest and had to make some of my own. They turned out so cute and the kids actually enjoy doing chores so the can move their "to-do's" to "done". Awesome!

First Year of Soccer

Last night was Canyon's first last soccer game. :) It was quite an interesting season. Overall he did pretty good for not having a clue what was going on and just getting out there and playing. I think he found his nitch as goalie... mostly because it made him the least tired. He didn't make any goals but if you ask him he did becuase at half time they would practice kicking the ball into the net. He did pretty good and we are all proud of him and grateful for everyone's support coming out to the games every week. He is already talking about practicing to get ready for next year so he must have liked it a little. :)

Refurbished Thrift Store Frame = Jewelry Holder

Remember this lovely find from last weeks thrift store trip? Well I've been wanting to make a Jewelry Holder for a while now and knew that this would be perfect! Before this my earrings and rings were in the drawer of my vanity and my necklaces were hanging on the door knob of my closet. Not the greatest place because of how accessible they are to my little fashionista 2 year old. :)

I started by taking the whole thing apart, throwing the lovely "starry night cloth sewing thingy" in the trash and choosing a paint color. I decided to go with the color Indian Turquoise because its very lovely. :) It took several coats of paint but covered the gold nicely.

(Everyting I used minus White Spray Paint and Duct Tape.)

I used hot glue to stick the fabric to the styrofoam like so...

And Waalaa, here is the front after I glued the fabric to the styrofoam.

My Husband cut down my wire netting to just the right size to fit the frame for me with wire cutters. Then, I sprayed both sides of the wire netting with wite spray paint to blend into the fabric a little better.

I then stacked all the pieces just so into the frame, slapped a few strips of duct tape on the back to keep it all together, nailed 2 small nails into the sides at the top of the frame for hooks and...

FINISHED! :) And I love it.

Can he really be this old already!? I love this little guy so so much and I know that he is going be be one of the best and brightest kids in his class. :) He's so excited to go and to learn and to come home and tell me all about it. I can't wait to go pick him up in 5 minutes and hear what he has to say. :)

It's been wonderful so far. Waking up when I want to... well when my kids do but still, no alarm clock. :) Reading a book for the first time in 4 years, spending our days at the Highland splash park and working on my projects. I love it!
My sister was in town last week and went with all of us to Idaho for a family reunion. We had a blast!
Canyon has had 3 soccer games and while the first 2 were a little rough to watch this last one was so much better! He has another one tonight and he's actually excited to go and to "make 16 kicks". That's his goal.
I signed up for the Battlecreek Boutique again and it's in mid October. I'm excited to introduce some new things I've been working on and to actually have time to really get ready for it.
Canyon starts preschool a week from today and we're getting really excited. We have most of his school clothes bought alon with his backpack so he's ready to go. We get to go to back to school night on Thursday. I really can't believe that he is going to be in Kindergarten next year, its crazy how fast time has flown by!

Freedom!!!!

Yesterday was my first "stay at home mom" day. I don't know if it was becuse I have a giant "to do" list in my phone that is 3 scrolls long or if it was the sense of freedom I was experiencing but... I deep cleaned my room, Canyon's room, Savanna's room, the kitchen and the car. I also tried a new recipe for dinner which turned out to be fabulous and completed two craft projects on my list. It was so awesome!!! Today I am feeling a bit lazier and I'm looking at today's "to-do's" and wondering if I will make it through half of the list. We will see I guess. But I am happy and content and excited to be home. :)

This is my summer wreath that I've been wanting to get to for months and now here we are in the middle of August and I finally got to it! It turned out pretty good though and I'm very happy with it.

No I'm not pregnant.... :) But, I did quit my job! Its been a long time coming but Scott and I finally made the decision that we are probably ok for me to be a stay at hom mom. :) I'm super excited about it and I hope my kids are too. I gave my work a 2 month notice and now I'm on the home stretch... 3 more weeks! My official last day of work is Friday, August 12th. Just in time for summer to be over I know but just in time for one final summer vacation and then to get Canyon ready to start preschool. I'm excited to spend lots of time with my kiddos and to work on my Etsy shop a little more. Savanna decided it would be a good idea to stick a little plastic pearl up her nose last night. Of course she decided to do this at 10:00 at night and when her daddy was in Wyoming working. After giving her a bath and trying to teach her how to blow bubbles failed miserably I tried to blow it out (something my mom read on line) by clogging her other nostril and putting my mount on hers and blowing hard. No luck. My last resort was to try and suck it out with the vacuum. I got her lip a couple times but no success. We decided to drive to the hospital at 11:00 at night and pay the $100 copay to let them get it out. Awesome. She is doing much better now and is never going to do that again...

So... for those of you who don't know, I've been getting into the coupon thing a little the last week or so. Here are the results from my first "double coupon Tuesday" shopping trip at Walmart. :) I think I did pretty good! Last Saturday I went to Target and spent $19 and saved $12 also. It feels pretty good. :)

Savanna thought it would be fun to play with mommy's mascara. This was the result. :) She even managed to get some on her eyelashes with no injuries.

Yesterday was so frustrating. It all started when I had the brilliant idea of buying a swimming pool to entertain my kids while I got some things done around the house. Scott was working like he does most Saturdays so of course it was just me and the kids. We left the house around 12:30 and headed to target where we picked up an inflatable swimming pool, new hose and a swimming suit for Savanna. It was such a nice hot day finally and we were excited to enjoy the new swimming pool. We got home and proceeded to take the pool out of the box when I notice the hole that had to fit a pump instead of just being blown up with my mouth. Of course we didn't have one of those so that put a damper in the pool plan. I deciced to unroll the new hose and we could just play in the yard with the hose. As I went to hook the hose to the faucett I notice the handle was missing! I couldn't believe it. Since we moved here in December we didn't fully examine the outside of the house and didn't notice that there was no handle on the tap. Frustrated and hot I proceeded to the garage planning to just turn on the automatic sprinkler system. Have you guys ever looked at one of those??? I had no idea how to turn it on. Tired and annoyed I decided to pack the kids back into the car in there swimming suits of course to Walmart to buy a pump for the swimming pool and a handle for the broken faucet. We got to Walmart and walked around looking for a tap handle for a while with no luch of course. We found the pump pretty quickly and decided to go next door to Home Depot. We got to home depot found exactly what we were looking for and finally headed home... time now being 3:30. We got home and I took the handle out of the plastic bag and tried unsuccessfully to jam it into place. :( I decided at this point that we could blow up the pool and carry buckets of water from the house to fill up the pool. We pulled the pool completely out of the box and that's when I noticed all the many parts of the pool that you could blow up with your mouth. The bigger whole I had seen originally that I thought we needed a raft/matress pump for was in fact where the hose goes to shoot water out of the giraffe's mouth. We blew up the pool and I filled it wit h6 buckets of water, which made about an inch of water in the bottom of the pool and I was done. What a day! My great idea on how to detain the children while I cleaned the house had turned into an even bigger project than cleaning my house would have been without having to find something for my kids to do. To top it all off, Scott got home from Park City 45 minutes later and grabbed the tap handle shoved it into the whole and lo and behold water came pouring right out. Of course.
My "to do" list didn't get done all except my laundry but at the end when it was all said and done just seeing the kids playing in the pool and enjoying the sun for a couple hours in the late afternoon helped to change my feelings about the day. I love my kids so much and I'm happy that they chose me. I love how you can have the worst day ever and your kids can do one little thing and your attitude can completely change. I'm so grateful for my little ones and I don't know what we would do with out them. :)

Easter

It felt like we celebrated Easter for 2 weeks this year! We had an Easter Egg hunt with the Sumner clan the weekend before Easter at Emily's house and the kids had fun finding candy and filling their baskets. The wednesday before Easter we had a ward Easter party and enjoyed good food and company. Easter weekend we had a Easter egg hunt at Grandma Joan's and even though it was so late in April for once it was cold as always. Easter Sunday was a nice day and kids woke up and hunted for their easter baskets to see what the easter bunny had left for them. Savanna found hers in the kitchen and Canyon found his in the dining room. It was a great week of celebration and Canyon even insisted on emailing the Easter bunny aka Elder Brigham to thank him. :) I love my little munchkins.

Happy Birthday Little Guy!

Canyon turned 4 on April 17th and I can't even believe that he's already that old! Its so crazy how fast he's grown up! We celebrated his birthday for 2 days starting on Sunday with a party at my Grandma's and continued thru Monday ending with a party at the Facers. He had a great birthday and we even had good weather for it surprisingly. :) We love Canyon so much and we're so happy to have him in our family. He is so smart and so funny and definitely keeps us busy. Canyon was the best baby in the whole world, so quiet, great sleeper just very very good. He's a great big brother and Savanna adores him... most of the time. :)

Today I took Savanna to her 2 year well child checkup. She is in the 95th percentile for her height and 80th percentile for her weight. She is advanced in all areas as far as her communication and listening skills. :) We love this little chickee sooooo much! She has been wearing big girl Hello Kitty underwear since the day after her birthday and she is doing wonderfully! Oh Savanna, we love you! What would our lives be like with out this litte firecracker? :) Yesterday our baby turned 2! I can't even believe how fast time flies. We love this little girl and are so happy she is in our family. She is such a happy little thing and makes us laugh all the time. We celebrated her special day by inviting both sides of the family over for a party. It was a lot of fun having everyone there with us to watch her open presents and blow out her candles. She got lots of fun presents and had a great time. She also got some Hello Kitty underwear and I'm proud to say she's been wearing them all day and so far has been accident free. :) She is doing so good! Happy Birthday baby girl, we love you so much!

I turned 26 on the 15th of March. Canyon said now I'm old like Daddy. :)
I had to work that day but my Escrow Officer, Stacy took me to Magleby's Fresh for lunch, yum! We had a small birthday party at our house that night and had my family over for cake. It was a good day. :)

A few weeks ago Nikki and the kids and I took a trip to visit Natalie in Seattle. It was a nice and much needed break from work and our everyday routine. :) We had fun playing at Natalie's house and we went to the Aquarium and Children's Museum while we were there too.

Wow, I've been missing from the blogging world for some time now. :) I can't believe how busy life can be and it doesn't seem to be slowing down anytime soon.
We started the biggest loser at work a month ago and I've lost 10 pounds! I'm happy about it but kinda bugged because I can't really feel or see the difference. Hopefully the next 10 will be the ones that count. :)

December flew by faster than November did! We were really busy the first part of the month getting Christmas orders out for my etsy shop all while working full time. And just because we didn't think our lives were hectic enough, we decided to move the week before Christmas. We moved to a American Fork and finally have room to breath! :) I love the location and the kids have had fun helping to decorate their rooms.
Scott and I also celebrated our 5 year anniversary in December. It was also the night of my company Christmas party so we celebrated our aniversary at my bosses treat. :) We went to the Desert Star in Salt Lake and it was really fun.
Christmas was so fun this year! We finally felt like we could afford to have some fun and were able to get and give some nice gifts this year. I got a Nikon D3100 for my present and I LOVE it!!! :) I've been wanting a nice camera for a while now and it was so fun to get it just in time for Christmas. We also got a new LCD TV, a new vaccuum from Melanie and a set of nice pots and pans from my parents.

I feel like I have been MIA from the blogging world for quite a long time. Its crazy how fast time flies and how busy life can be. Here is a recap of our November.
Scott turneds 26 on November 3rd and I ordered a duck hunting cake from none other than my fav cake/cupcake shop... Dippidee. :) It turned out so so cute and its was delicious as always! Happy Birthday babe!

In the middle of November my mom and the kids and I took a much needed vacation to go see my sister and her family in Seattle. It was so much fun and I want to go back really soon! The kids played well together for the most part and we got to do some really fun things.

Pumpkins

This year instead of carving pumpkins we decided to paint them for obvious reasons. :)
It was a huge hit and the kids loved it! Savanna tasted the paint a few times and only got a little in her hair. Daddy painted a great face on Canyon's pumpkin and then Canyon proceeded to paint over it. :) Mommy painted faces on them after the kids were done.

Yesterday, after waiting so patiently all week long, we got to go to Cornbelly's! Canyon was so good all week and made sure that he followed all of the rules so that we could go. The kids loved it and had a great time. They were both so worn out afterwards that they fell asleep on the way home. :)

BUSY

The last few months have been so insane! I've been working so much that I have hardly been able to keep up with things at home and life has been very very busy for us. Scott has also been working a lot so I feel like we don't get anything done at home anymore. Hopefully things will start to slow down a little bit and we can get back to a regular routine again. Things have been going really well with my etsy shop though and I've been really happy about it. A couple months ago I hit 100 sales and it took me 8 months to get there. Over the last 2 months I was able to double that and now I have had over 200 sales. My shop will have been open for one year at the end of November and I'm excited to see where my sales will be at then. :)
In the last couple months since I've posted we have done lots of new fun things as well.

Canyon got to go dove hunting with Daddy at the beginning of September and had a blast.

He's also been able to go fishing with Daddy a few times and he loves every second of it!

Over Labor Day weekend my friend Nikki and I took our little ones to the zoo. It was a pretty hot day and of course Savanna's favorite part was standing under the mister's to cool off. :)

We also got to go to Park City with my family over Labor Day weekend and ride the alpine slide and the coaster. Canyon was so brave and went on both rides with me. Savanna was too little so she hung out with Grandpa at the resort.

We also were able to welcome baby Andrew into the family in September. Scott's sister Alyssa had her first baby and he is so little and cute!

A couple weeks ago my cousin Matt got married and we were able to spend a lot of time with the Green family. Here is Canyon and Savanna at my Grandmas enjoying some food.

Last week we went to the Keller Williams party at Noah's and Canyon got his face painted and cotton candy.

Last Saturday Canyon had his first karate lesson and got his uniform. He had so much fun and actually learned a lot of things. This saturday he gets to break a board and get his White Belt. He is so excited!

Little Savanna is 18 months old now and she got to go to nursery for the first time a couple weeks ago. I took her in and watched her play for a few minutes before leaving. I went back and checked on her a few times and she had no idea that I was even there or that I ever left. She loved it and didn't need me at all! Her nursery teacher said it was amazing and that she had never had one like Savanna before. That's our little miss independent.

She had her 18 month doctor appointment on Monday and she is off the charts in her weight and height. Not surprised? I wasn't either. I don't have any idea how she stays so round and chubby. This girl has been walking since she was 9 months old and she never rests. She's the busiest little thing I've ever met. We sure love her! :)

Dino Day

Yesterday we got to go to Eccles Dinosaur Park in Ogden. Canyon has been waiting for this day for months now and he loved every second of it. We made a chain at the beginning of the Summer and planned that we could take a weekend trip to Dinosaur Land in Vernal in August some time. When it got closer to August we decided that it might be better to go to the new Ogden Dinosaur Park instead so that we wouldn't have to drive so far. It was an awesome park and it was lots of fun!
After the Dinosaur Museum we went to another Museum in Ogden called the Treehouse Museum. I found in on the internet when I was looking up things to do in Ogden and it looked like a really fun place to take kids. The museum is entirely interactive and the kids loved it. It was like a giant playground. The only problem was that little did we know we decided to go on the one day a year that its free admission so it was crazy busy. It was still fun though and we even got to see a magic show while we were there.
After the Treehouse Museum we went to my Bestest Friend Nikki's house and went out to dinner with them. It was a great day and we are exhausted today! :)

We went to Grandpas house for haircuts a few nights ago and while we wer waiting for Grandpa to get home from his meetings Scott shaved Canyon's hair into a Mohawk. :)

We waited a while for Grandpa to get home and eventually left because it was getting late and he wasn't home yet. Canyon got to sport the Mohawk for a few days.

This little girl LOVES water. Her first word besides "mama" and "dada" was water. Actually it's more lie "Otah" but we all know what she means. She is always the first one in the sprinklers and she climbs in empty bathtubs and showers because she knows that water should be there. She doesn't care if its warm or cool outside, if she sees water she is there. Her favorite treat is ice. She stands at the freezer holding her cup and yells "ice, ice!". She loves to chew on it and even though she looks like she is freezing cold and in excruciating pain, once its in her mouth you are not getting it out. :)

Scott may have become a father much faster than either of us wanted him to, but that's ok because he's great at it! Canyon wants to be just like him and can't wait until he's big enough to go on fishing and hunting trips with his daddy. He is learning the names of all the fish and ducks and he loves it when daddy shows him his fishing stuff. Savanna adores him and gets so excited when he comes home from work. Dada was her first word and she always cries out for him when she is sad. She is definitley a daddy's girl.

Rosette Headband Tutorial

Hey everyone! This is my first "how-to" or tutorial so bear with me! I have had a lot of compliments and interest in some of the headbands I've been making lately so I decided to post a tutorial to show how I made them! Headbands are so cute and so popular right now and they look great if you are wearing your hair up or down.

First, I would like to start off with a warning. This will not be my mom's kind of instructional guide. :) There are no rules, no rights or wrongs I am more of a go with the flow follow the picture type of person rather than a follow instructions word for word so just a heads up. :)
Also, these pics were all taken with my cell phone and are definitely NOT the greatest, sorry!

Ok, so first I used cotton for this but I'm sure you could use any type of fabric you would like. I got this from the fabric store this afternoon and left it folded in half the way I got it. It doesn't really matter how long it is, just play with it and decide how long you need it to be depending on the size of rosette you would like to make.

I start by cutting a straight line about 2 -3 inches thick all the way down the fabric until I have a strip of fabric to work with.

Next, I tie a knot in the center of the strip of fabric. Don't worry if its not the exact center, it's not important.

Next take one of the ends and start twisting the fabric. Then twist the other side as well.

After that start twisting the two sides together a little at a time.

When you've twisted a few inches together at the top, take your glue gun and tab glue towards the bottom side of your rosette and start wrapping the fabric around the knot.

Keep doing this and glue every couple inches.

After your fabric has been completely twisted, rolled and glued together, this is what it should look like. :)

Now, you can do whatever you would like with your rosette. You can add it as an embelishment to a shirt or a purse or anything you would like too. Or... you can keep on reading and I will tell you how to turn it into a headband!

After you have made your big rosette, make another just a little smaller than the first.

I do not make the elastic headband. I buy them at Walmart. :) You can buy a pack of I think 8 headbands for $2.50. They also have different colors that you can buy as well.

The next step is to attach the headband to the rosettes. First, I glue the sides of the rosettes together so they are attached. Then, I make a line with glue across the back of the rosettes and press the headband to the line of glue.

This last step you don't have to do but I like to so that the back of the rosettes look prettier. I cut two circles out of the fabric I used to make the rosettes, approximately the same size as the rosettes and then glu those on the back of the headbands.

And....... VOILA! You have a very cute, very trendy Fabric Rosette Stretchy Headband!

Trials and Blessings

Today I am grateful for trials.
For the most part I fell like I am pretty good at dealing with stressful situations. I fee like I can see the good in the bad and that I am a glass is half full kind of person. As many of you may know I lost my job just over a month ago. This last month has been pretty difficult for my little family. There were a lot of arguments and nights lying awake in bed worrying about what we were going to do.
Today I am grateful for trials. At the beginning of April I felt like our little world had in a way been turned upside down. I know to most I had a brave front and positive outlook but deep down I didn't know what we were going to do. About 2 weeks ago I had my first and only job interview since I was laid off and found out a few days ago that I got the job. :) I feel very blessed and lucky to have found a job so easily and quickly in this economy and in my line of work. I am excited to start with a new company that seems to be doing really well and feel like this all happened for a reason and like it was my escape from ORT. :) As most people know I had been unhappy there for a long time and I am excited to venture off and start fresh with a new company. I also am grateful for the month break I had from working to be at home with my kids. It has been so fun being a stay at home mommy for this short little time and to enjoy my kids. Another blessing that I received by being laid off when I did was being able to take care of my little Savanna. She was sick for quite a while and none of the medicine they were giving her worked. She kept having allergic reactions and ended up just getting better on her own. I don't know what I would have done if I was working because I would have had to take off so much time to care for her. Heavenly Father has a plan and he does things for a reason. I am grateful for him and know how important it is to put my trust in him and know that he will not give me any trial that I can not handle.
This has been a hard experience for me and I am grateful for the things I've learned going through this trial. I am grateful now for the light at the end of the tunnel and it will be bittersweet returning to work but I'm grateful to have a job again.

New Hobby

Ok, so the last couple weeks I have been accumulating flower cabochons, and jewelry making supplies. I've been having so much fun making earrings and bobby pins! I have a bunch more things coming in the mail over the next few days and I can't wait to get them. Scott even parted with one of his small tackle boxes and gave it to me to help organize my supplies. I think after I get the mail this week I will definitely need a bigger one. Maybe for Mother's Day?? :)
I've also been having fun with fabric and making rosette headbands. They are so fun!!

Crazy Busy Week

Last week was such a crazy busy week! It all started on Monday when I got laid off from my job where I've been for 4 years! Its ok though, I kind of knew it was coming because of how slow its been with this economy. They had to let 3 of us go and now there are only 4 people left at ORT. When I started in 2006 there were 15. This economy is so crazy! Anyway, so I am enjoying staying home with the kiddos right now but still keeping my open because I really need to be working to help take care of our little family. So, if anyone knows of any good jobs out there... keep me in mind! :)

My sister Natalie and her cute little kids came into town on Monday as well so all though I was sad about losing my job I was actually kind of happy because I got to spend the week with my sister and my mom and go do fun things every day!

Tuesday we packed up the kids and wend to the Living Planet Aquarium in Salt Lake. It was so fun and so busy because of Spring Break. The kids loved it though. They had fun petting the Manta Rays and seeing the sharks. They have a new addition to the aquarium this year with lots of new animals and they even had penguins! They were awesome!

On Wednesday we took the kids to Kangaroo Zoo and it was fun too! Canyon was running all over that place and he told me that he never wanted to leave. Savanna thought she was as big as everyone else as usual and she had fun going up and down the big slides with Uncle Bryce.

On Thursday we went to Bonneville Park and had a picnic. It was a really nice day outside and the kids had fun playing in the sunshine.

Friday morning we all left to Idaho to see Nikki gradudate from the nursing program. Scott wasn't able to come up with us because of work so Canyon and Savanna and I got to ride up with my parents which was nice. We went to Nikki's Nursing Graduation on Friday night and then to dinner at chuck a rama later. My poor kiddos have been sick for almost 2 weeks now and Mr. Canyon of course had a fever the whole time we were at dinner and wouldn't eat anything. He went right to sleep when we got back to the hotel and felt a lot better the next day.

Saturday morning we went to Nikki's BYU-I graduation where she got to walk and get her diploma. The kids were a little restless through the beginning of it but luckily both fell asleed halfway through. After graduation we went back to Nikki's apartment and packed up her things to move her home. The kids did pretty good on the drive home and were happy to see there daddy!

Sunday we had a family dinner at my Grandma's since my sister and her family were in town and we had a birthday cake for Canyon since everyone was together. I told him it was a practice for Saturday and he was fine with that of course!
And that concludes our Crazy Busy Week!!

Better late than never, right?
Our baby Savanna is one!! She turned one on Thursday, March 25th and we had two birthday parties last weeks in her honor! Last Monday we had a party for her at my mom's house and it was so much fun! She was so cute and she did so good opening her presents. She started crying a few minutes after she started eating her cake but I think it was because she was tired and she had just had enough of everything.
On thursday we had another party at Chuck E. Cheese for her and my cousing Eric's twin girls who share the same birthday as Savanna. It was really fun and Savanna liked standing by the stage watching the Chuck E. Chees band. Later she fell and got a bloody nose but other than that it was great!!!
We love our baby girl and don't know what life would be like with out her!

Birthday Party Prep

This weekend my mom and I made two fun things for Savanna's birthday parties this week. On Friday night we made a tutu, which turned out to be soooo incredibly easy! It was fun workin on it with my mom; she cut all the strips of tulle for me and I tied them onto the waistband. We tried it on Savanna when we were all done and of course she just got mad at it because it keeps getting in her way. Oh well, she can wear it for a few pics, right? :)
On Saturday we went to Target and bought a package of white onsies and we made a cute cupcak onesie for her to wear at her parties with her tutu! It was pretty easy too and so fun to make. I am definitley planning on doing more iron-on appliques in the near future!Check out our finished products! :)

Elder Brigham William Facer

Yesterday, Gary & Susan dropped Brigham off at the MTC. He is embarking on his mission to Cuernavaca Mexico and we are so proud of him! He has been looking forward anxiously to this for a long time and he is finally on his way. This weekend was really fun, it was full of family and friends at the Facers saying there last goodbyes for the next 2 years. When Brig returns Savanna will be Canyons age and Canyon will be almost 5! A lot will have changed. He did an amazing job on his farewell talk in Sacrament Meeting on Sunday and we all know that he will be an awesome missionary. Farewell Elder Facer!!

Today was a perfect day. First, I didn't have to go to work because my babysitter was sick so I got to spend my Birthday with my kiddos! Canyon was very well behaved today and he even went down for his nap the first time I asked and with out throwing a fit! After the kids woke up from naps we met my mom and Shelly at Chick-fil-a for lunch. Then we got to go to the Dinosaur Museum by the BYU stadium. It was our third try and we finally got in! They are only open Mon - Fri from 8:00 - 5:00 so every other time we tried they were closed of course! Canyon loved it and we went through it 3 times.

After that we came home and played outside in the beautiful weather for a little while. Savanna was so cute and curious about the grass and everything else outside. Scott got home around 4:00 and he brought with him my very favorite cupcakes!!

We ate Chicken Alfredo for dinner and it was soooo yummy! Scott folded all the clothes for me too after I did laundry today!
Later my family came over and gave me a really cute cupcake stand and a couple cookbooks, yay!! After that we went to the Facers for Birthday cake and ice cream.
It was a PERFECT day! :)

Canyon's Busy Day

Today, Canyon did a lot of things. He spent the day at Kathy's house where he bit Savannas tummy. After I came home from work we went to the Bean Museum and Canyon got to touch a snake. He was even brave enough to let her put it around his neck! After that we went to the Creamery and he got to meet Jimmer Ferdette. He was so funny, he walked right up to him, shook his hand and introduced himself. It was so cute!

Canyon's First Dentist Appointment

Monday I took Canyon to the dentist office for his first appointment ever. I had my appointment first so I had him sit on the chair by my feet and that lasted about 2 minutes. He is quite the jabber box and he talked the hygenists ear off the whole time. For those of you who know Canyon he can’t sit still when he talks so he was doing circles around us most of the time as he talked about dinosaurs and South America and Timpanogos Mountain. He was so funny! He ended up standing right next to her as she was cleaning my mouth and wanted to know exactly what she was doing and my mommy’s mouth was bleeding. After that I didn’t know if he would be ok to have them look in his mouth but we assured him that only mommy’s mouths bleed. When it was time for his appointment he laid down on top of me and she gave us a ride in the chair up and down. Then she had him open his mouth and he showed her his sharp T-Rex teeth. She cleaned his teeth and he laughed because it tickled. After that he got to go to the treasure box and pick a “treasure” or a bag with a toothbrush, toothpaste and a toy in it. He especially liked the view at Dr. Adamsons office because we got to look out the window and see Timpanogos Mountain and that is Daddy’s favorite mountain. Canyon was so brave and we are so proud of him!!

A couple weeks ago we got two new employees at work and its been so great having them there! Such a needed breath of fresh air! One of the new employees, Scott, is quited the practical joke player and for some reason he has chosen me as the target for all of them. One day he rubber banded everything on my desk together. Another day he cut my straw in half on my fountain drink and then replace it so it looked normal. When I went to have a drink my drink felt full but my straw wasn't long enough to get anything. Nice.
This is what I did to him to get him back. 127 sticky notes. Now I think we are even but we will see! :)

Christmas was so fun this year! It was so different this year actually having a little boy who somewhat understood what was going on. Canyon was so excited for Christmas this year!

This is Canyon in his new transformer jammies on Christmas Eve.

This is Savanna at 7:20 this morning. When she woke up she found that Santa had left some chocolate cookie crumbs on the plate and of course she helped herself to them.

When I was growing up my mom always had us arrange our presents and then she would take a picture of us sitting next to them. So here is Canyon and his presents. :)

Here is Savanna and her presents. She didn't open any of them herself. She didn't really care to. She was too interested in brothers presents that were already opened so Canyon opened hers for her.

This is Canyon at Grandma Susan's. He got Bolt - and he knew what it was - even though he hasn't seen the movie or the case since last year when William was in town.

We had a GREAT Christmas! Canyon was so excited and that of course made me excited. I didn't have any problem at all waking up at 7:15 to watch him open his presents. It was great! Savanna had kind of a rough day. She hurt herself at the Facers in the morning and she has a huge scratch on the side or her face. It was so sad and it looks horrible. Next Christmas will definitley be better for her! :)

We ended the day by sending both kids to my moms for a slumber party... I warned her that Savanna wakes up every three hours to eat but she thinks just cause she's with Grandma she will be a good girl and sleep through the night. We will see!! Thanks mom! I could definitley use the rest.

Today was my Mom's birthday! Chris & Katrina invited us all over to their new apartment for dinner and cake and to celebrate mom's birthday. We ate yummy food and had fun hanging out together as a family.

Yesterday was our 4 year Anniversary! Scott sent me flowers at work and then when I got home we went to Olive Garden. Then at Olive Garden I got more flowers! It was so fun.

Potty Trained!!!

So I know that Canyon will probaby die someday when he gets older and find this picture but... I'm posting it anyway! :)
Last Sunday we started REALLY working with Canyon on going on the potty and I'm proud to say that this week he did so good and only had one accident after his nap. We are sooooo proud of him and sooooo grateful we don't have to buy diapers for 2 kids anymore! Yay!

Halloween & Cornbelly's - better late than never!

Ok, so I know I'm a little late with this post but that's ok! I couldn't find the cord to connect my camera to the computer for a couple weeks and Savanna found it for me in my shoe closet. Thanks baby! :)
This year after changing his mind MANY times, Canyon finally decided to be a pirate for Halloween and he was so cute! He ran around the last couple weeks yelling "AAAARRRGHH MATEYS!!" Then Grandpa taught him to say "Shiver me timbers" and everyone almost died laughing whenever he yelled it at him. What a funny boy I have. :)
Savanna was a chicken for Halloween and that was deciced a long long time ago. For those of you who don't know, Savanna goes by chicken at our house. Its kind of a long story but thanks to her brother Canyon... and her dad. She has been known as "Chicken Baby" since she was in my tummy. We figured it was only fitting for her to be a chicken on her first Halloween. And look how cute she was!

The Saturday before Halloween Uncle Bryce and I took the kids to Cornbelly's. Canyon had a blast and Savanna was just happy to be out as usual. Canyon was of course terrified of the giant lizard haunted house thing but who isn't? He loved the bouncy thing and the corn maze.

Yesterday was Scott's birthday and he turned 25! Wow, its crazy how old that sounds! :) And I am going to be 25 in March. We didn't really do anything too exciting but on Friday night we are planning on going to dinner at the new Texas Roadhouse that just opened in Lehi. We had Scott's favorite cake, german chocolate, and ice cream at my mom's in the evening and Scott blew out his candles with Canyons help.
We love Scott so so much and he sacrifies SOOOOO much for his family. This year Scott sold his beloved shotgun and at one point he even had 3 jobs to help us get through tough times. He is such a hard worker and we love him sooooo much. Thanks for being so wonderful and for being such a great dad to Canyon & Savanna. Happy birthday and we love you!

For Family Night on Monday we went to KFC, then we went and visited Grandpa Facer. After that, we stopped at Macey's and got a pumpkin to carve. Canyon wanted a little one but they didn't have many little ones so we ended up with a medium sized one.

Toy Story 3D

So I haven't taken Canyon to a movie since he was really little and was a little worried to take him to one but decided I'd give it a shot. Yesterday we decided to go to Toy Story 3D because Canyon loves that movie and I thought it would be fun to see it in 3D. We went with Shelly & Melanie and Canyon did so good!! He was so funny and I was laughing at him most of the time. He would have sudden outbursts of excitement all the time and I was almost crying I was laughing so hard. One time he yelled "nice shot Zurg!" and it was hillarious. He didn't wear his glasses for very long though because they were so big and they kept falling off. He liked it though and he decided that he wants to be Buzz Lightyear for Halloween. We'll see if I can pull that one off! Here's a picture of him all set for the movie to begin. :)

- Work... all the time.
- Savanna is almost crawling. She's so cute :)
- Canyon is 2 1/2. Yes, he's definitley testing my patience each and every day.
- Scott - duck hunt starts Saturday. Enough said.
- Potty training. some days are hopeful and some days just aren't.
- Savanna is still awake all night. She doesn't sleep during the day either. I think she's a robot.
- Scott just got called as a supervisor in the Teachers Quorum in our new ward. :)
- Savanna just had her 6 month apt and she weighs 18.5 lbs. (90th percentile)
- We moved Savanna and Canyon into the same room yesterday.
- Canyon's name isn't Canyon anymore. His name is "the brave little toaster". Sometimes he prefers to go by "Diego Canyon Facer Diego".

I lead such an exciting life!! :)

I'm happy to say that I bought a new camera on ebay, and got a killer deal, and it got here yesterday and now I'm back in business! Yay!! So usually I don't introduce them to cupcakes until their first birthday but Savanna thinks she is an exception to the rule apparently! She was sitting on the counter "helping me" frost cupcakes today and I took my eyes off of her for 2 seconds and she had snatched up a mini cupcake and was chowing away! Now a normal mothers reaction would have probably been to take the cupcake away... which I did... but not before grabbing my phone and getting this pic!

Timpanogos Storytelling Festival 2009

My dad has done all the sign work for the Timpanogos Storytelling Festival for the last 15 years and so we've always gotten free tickets everywhere to go. It has turned into a family tradition for us and we love it! This year it was nice and cool up the canyon where they hold the day festivities and it was perfect weather! Here are some pics. Can't wait til next year!

Savanna learned how to sit up by herself about a week ago and she is doing so good!

I gave Savanna rice cereal a few weeks ago and she didn't really like it or know what to do with it when I put it in her mouth. I tried again today and she did so good! She really liked it this time, maybe because I added bananas. She was so messy and cute! :)

This week was awesome!! We got to go to 2 concerts which is something that we love to do but rarely get to! We went to Def Lepard / Poison on Tuesday & Nickelback on Wednesday. Nickelback was by far my favorite but they were both so much fun! Both concerts were at Usana so the drive was horrible but well worth it!

Last Saturday I got to go fishing with Scott! What a rare occasion this was and I'm sure he loved every second of it. :) Scott goes fishing at least once a week and I'm pretty sure that this was my first time out this year. It was fun and Scott was very patient with me. We invited our friends Justin & Natalie and we had a blast. Hopefully my husband will invite me along more often! :)

Savanna is 4 months old already!! I can't even believe it. She is so cute and chubby, just like her brother was. I love it! She had her 4 month check up on Tuesday and she is in the 90th percentile in both height and weight. She is 25.5 inches long and she weighs 16 pounds.

Island Park 2009

Lots of pictures...

We got to go to Island Park, Idaho for a long weekend trip and it was so much fun! My mom's family is from Idaho and most of them live there still so we all got together and stayed the weekend at a cabin up there. It was so great to be there and have a break from everything!

The first day we were there we floated the river and Scott fished out of the canoe of course.

Later that evening they all went fishing and caught tons of fish!

Savanna relaxed at the cabin for most of the trip :)

Canyon and I went to a little area called "Mack's Inn" and got shaved ice. YUM!!

We went to Yellowstone one of the days and of course we left our stroller at the cabin. This picture shows our wonderful helpers packing our kids around. :)

4th of July Weekend

Friday morning we took Canyon and Savanna to the balloon festival.

Canyon loved it, until they lit the fire in the balloons. Then he cried. :)

Friday was also Shelly's Birthday! Happy 17th birthday Shelly!

My mom & I took her to Primrose Retreat and we all got glitter toes!

On the 4th we had a tailgate party outside the stadium with our friends and then watche the stadium fireworks. Canyon ate lots of chips. :)

It was a fabulous 4th!!

JUNE

So far this Summer...

We went to Orem's Summerfest during the short break in the rain! Canyon rode on one ride and we watched the parade! We got back to our car just before it started raining again.

We went to Pleasant Grove's Strawberry Days the next week. My mom & I took Canyon to the carnival during the week and he got to ride on a few more rides. They were $1.50 a ticket and each ride was 2 tickets!! It was crazy! Summerfest, the week before was only $.75 a ticket and the ride he went on was only one ticket. I'll have to remember that for next year!

Then today we had a family reunion at Lindon park. This is Savanna sitting on Grandpa's lap.

Bryce pushed Canyon on the swings and he loved it, until he fell out and landed on his back. He cried for a couple minutes but then wanted to go back and swing some more.

Canyon got to draw out the tickets for the raffle at the family reunion.

And he won a pail with a shovel that was full of candy, and a bubble wand.

Then we went swimming at the new Lindon pool! It was so fun and so nice to finally have a good Saturday where it wasn't raining so we could enjoy Summer a little bit!
